Aum Ashram in partnership with Sewa international is hosting a community-wide event with appropriate physical distancing to encourage individuals to participate in healthy living through the challenge: Love your Healthy S.E.L.F. 2021.

Event Timeline:

  • Coaching (for certain events) begins: Feb 15, 2021
  • AUM Challenge Week  
  • Saturday April 3rd - Walkathon, DanceAthon, ChantAthon
  • Saturday April 4th - YogAthon
  • Saturday April 10th - BikeAthon


Each registrant will receive :

  • Love Your Healthy S.E.L.F. T-shirt (Distribute a week before Apr. 3rd)
  • Winners Enter the Raffle for Prizes
  • 4 Free workshops on S.E.L.F. by Sewa International
  • Mentor group for support
  • Be part of the Ashram family 

Raffle Prizes :

    Activities

    YOGATHON

    Yogathon is an initiative to promote the practice of yoga for healthier living. The event challenges participants to complete 108 Sun Salutations . On April 3 , participants will transcend barriers of age, culture, and physical ability to take the challenge in a fun and light manner. There will be two guided sessions and a video to train on proper form for Sun Salutation. The Yoga guru will be available for any individual guidelines as you progress towards your goal of 108 Sun Salutations.

    This is a family event so please encourage your family to participate in this event and learn how to incorporate Yoga as part of a healthy lifestyle.

    BIKE-A-THON

    As a way to promote healthy living, we want to welcome you to the bike-a-thon and believe you are ready for the challenge!

    Through training events between now and April as well as individual and small-group rides, this event prepares, challenges, and encourages participants to train for the big ride on April 3rd, 2020. When you express your interest in this event, the team mentor will guide you through daily, weekly progression and encourage group activities over the weekends with social distancing.

    On April 3, participants will take on the challenge to ride their pledged distance and push themselves to achieve their goals as a testament of their strength and willpower. We hope to encourage everyone interested to come out and pursue this fun and engaging group while remaining socially-distant and continuing to do what we love: biking for a cause.

    WALK/RUN-A-THON

    Looking for a great way to start the year? How about taking a challenge to walk or run with a group of family/friends? Worried you don’t have enough time? Worried that you might not be fast enough? Worried that you are out of shape? Cast those worries aside, and take a step towards greater health.

    Come join us on April 3rd, to either walk or run 1K, 5K, 10K or even a half marathon. The best part is that you can choose your own goal and train at your own pace. This is with the free guidance of a coach to help motivate and keep you on track! Not only is this a wonderful opportunity to get yourself moving, but you can enlist your friends and families for this great cause.

    We would love to see people sign up as families and groups! For this reason, we have even created a 1K for young kids, although they may sign up for longer distances with their parents if they so wish.

    DANCE-A-THON

    This event aims to challenge people to get up out of their couches and learn some new dance styles while having fun. We will be hosting virtual workshops weekly where instructors will teach different skills and dances. On April 3rd, we will encourage participants to showcase all they have learnt and conclude with a fun dance party observing social distancing! While exploring dance, we will also focus on achieving our fundraising goal for the AUM Ashram, a non-profit 501c3, which is dedicated to fostering an environment for learning, growth, yoga, and spirituality.

    We will be hosting workshops for the following styles:

    1. Folk Dance
    2. Bhangra
    3. Garba

    READ-A-THON

    As part of the journey to self-reflection and self-inquiry, Read-A-Thon, participants will take on the challenge to read books on spirituality, health, and wellbeing and push themselves to achieve their goals as a testament to their mental strength and willpower. Let us strive to inculcate a habit of at least 30 minutes of reading every day. We hope to encourage everyone interested to come out and pursue this learning while remaining socially-distant and continuing to do what we love: Read for a cause!

    4. Living with the Himalayan masters- Swami Rama

    CHANT-A-THON

    Chant-a-thon is also an event to raise funds for the Aum Ashram which is dedicated to fostering an environment for learning, growth, yoga, and spirituality. Participants will take on the challenge to learn a chant of their choice and push themselves to achieve their goals as a testament to their mental strength and willpower. We hope to encourage everyone interested to come out and pursue this learning while remaining socially-distant and continuing to do what we love: chant for a cause.

    There are several categories of participation, each with 4 coach led sessions:

    1. Vishnu Sahastranama: Teaching sessions and learning tools provided by Ramjee Nunna
    2. First chapter of Patanjali Yoga Sutra: Teaching sessions and learning tools will be provided by Dr. Hetal Nayak
    3. Bhagawat Gita Chapter 6 ( Yoga of mediation ): Sessions and learning tools will be provided by Dr. Devraj Nayak

    Let us come together as a community and participate in being present, living in the moment and have a chance at building on your new year's resolutions with healthy habits. From sleeping well to exercise and yoga, the "Love your Healthy S.E.L.F." initiative promotes guided collaboration to achieve personal and collective goals. In addition, there are many other intiatives to encourage knowledge and fostering a growth-mindset. We hope that through this challenge, everyone comes out with a stronger mind and body with a healthy disregard for the impossible. Participate in this health initiative and raise funds for Aum Ashram construction! #AumAshram2021
